BLM Montana/Dakotas manages the Pryor Mountain Wild Horse Range on approximately 36,000 acres. The appropriate management level is 120 horses. Since 1971, the BLM has removed nearly 450 horses from the Pryor Mountain Wild Horse Range.

BLM Nevada manages 83 wild horse and burro herd management areas on approximately 15.6 million acres. The combined appropriate management level for all HMAs in the state is 12,811 animals. Since 1971, the BLM has removed nearly 136,500 animals from public rangelands in Nevada.
BLM Roundups in New Mexico (BLM)

BLM New Mexico manages two wild horse and burro herd management areas on nearly 29 thousand acres. The combined appropriate management level for all HMAs in the state is 83 animals. Since 1971, the BLM has removed approximately 700 animals from public rangelands in New Mexico.
BLM Roundups in Oregon-Washington (BLM)

BLM manages 17 Herd Management Areas (HMA) in southeast Oregon and co-manages one Wild Horse Territory (Murders Creek—75 percent Forest Service and 25 percent BLM) with the Malheur National Forest.

BLM Utah manages 19 wild horse and burro herd management areas on nearly 2.4 million acres. The combined appropriate management level for all HMAs in the state is 1,956 animals. Since 1971, the BLM has removed approximately 17,942 animals from public rangelands in Utah.
